Epoxy Flooring Cost Calculator: Estimate Your Queensland Job

September 30, 2026 Team

You can estimate an epoxy floor by multiplying the floor area in square metres by the rate for your system, then adding preparation and repair costs. Measure length by width, choose solid colour, flake or metallic, and add extras for cracks, old coatings and moisture treatment. Resin Masters’ current rates are in the tables below.

The calculator on this page gives a range, not a quote. A site visit turns the range into a fixed price. Most of the difference between two quotes comes from preparation, not from the resin itself.

Epoxy floor cost estimate

Estimate only, based on Resin Masters’ published rate ranges. Small spaces may carry a flat minimum project fee. Final price is confirmed at your free on-site quote.

How do you calculate the cost of an epoxy floor?

Use this formula: floor area in m2 times the system rate per m2, plus preparation and repair extras, then check the total against the minimum job charge. Measure every area you want coated, add them together, and choose your system. Resin Masters’ extras are listed below so you can add them up yourself.

Estimated cost = (area in m2 x system rate)
             + repairs and crack filling
             + old coating removal
             + moisture treatment
+ extras (anti-slip, UV topcoat upgrade)

If the total is below the minimum job charge, the minimum applies.

Step 1: how do you measure the floor area?

Measure the length and width of each area in metres and multiply them to get square metres. For an L-shaped or irregular room, split it into rectangles, calculate each and add the results. Measure only the floor you want coated, and subtract fixed items such as a built-in workbench.

Many double garages are close to 6 m by 6 m, which is 36 m2. A single garage is often around 3 m by 6 m, or 18 m2. Your garage will differ, so measure it rather than relying on these figures.

Step 2: what is the rate per m2 for each system?

The rate depends on the system. Solid colour is the most affordable and flake sits in the middle. Metallic costs the most because the work is slower and more skilled. Resin Masters’ rates are in the table below. Rates include materials and labour for standard preparation on a sound slab.

System Rate (AUD per m2) What is included
Solid colour epoxy $50 to $90 Diamond grinding, moisture testing, primer, base coat, UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat, GST and 7-year warranty
Decorative flake epoxy $60 to $110 As above, plus vinyl chip broadcast
Metallic or custom quartz epoxy $100 to $160 or more As above, plus hand-worked metallic pigment or quartz
Industrial or high-build Quoted per site Complete system specification on the written quote; industrial systems build to 2 to 6 mm

Step 3: which extras change the price?

Extras are anything beyond standard preparation on a sound slab: crack repair, removing old coatings, treating moisture, anti-slip additives and a UV-stable topcoat upgrade. They’re the main reason a quote lands above or below your estimate. Add each one that applies to your floor.

Extra Price When it applies
Crack and defect repair $5 to $20 per m2 for heavily damaged slabs Cracks, spalls or damaged patches
Old coating or paint removal Assessed at the free on-site quote Existing paint, sealer or failed epoxy
Moisture barrier treatment $3 to $8 per m2 A moisture test shows high readings
Anti-slip specification Included in wet-area systems Bathrooms and other wet areas (AS 4586-rated aggregate)
UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat Standard, no upgrade charge Every Resin Masters system
Small-job minimum Flat minimum project fee Small spaces such as a single bathroom or laundry

Step 4: what is the minimum job charge?

Small jobs cost more per square metre because setup, travel and preparation don’t shrink with the floor. Smaller spaces, such as a single bathroom or small laundry, often carry a flat minimum project fee instead of a per-square-metre rate. Resin Masters confirms it on your free on-site quote.

GST: Resin Masters’ published prices include GST, and every written quote lists grinding, moisture testing, primer, coats, topcoat and GST separately.

What is a worked example for a double garage?

Take a 36 m2 double garage in flake finish. Multiply 36 by Resin Masters’ flake range of $60 to $110 per m2 and the base cost is $2,160 to $3,960. If the slab is heavily damaged, add $5 to $20 per m2. The calculator above does this sum for you.

Job Area System Base cost If the slab is heavily damaged
Single garage 18 m2 Solid colour $900 to $1,620 $990 to $1,980
Double garage 36 m2 Flake $2,160 to $3,960 $2,340 to $4,680
Living area 30 m2 Metallic $3,000 to $4,800 $3,150 to $5,400

Examples are calculated from Resin Masters’ published rate ranges, not from individual quotes. A free on-site quote gives the fixed price.

Why is my quote higher than the calculator?

Quotes come in above the calculator when the slab needs more work than the calculator assumes. Common reasons are extensive cracks, an old coating to remove, moisture readings that need treatment, difficult access or a large step or slope. The site visit finds these, which is why the calculator gives a range.

  • The slab has more damage than it looks like from the surface.
  • An existing coating is thick or well bonded and takes time to grind off.
  • Moisture testing shows the slab needs treatment before anything can be coated.
  • Access is tight, or the floor is on an upper level or a slope.

Who is this calculator not for?

This calculator isn’t suited to large commercial or industrial floors, multiple rooms with different substrates or anything that needs a structural repair. Those jobs need a site measure and a written scope. It’s also not a quote, so don’t budget to the dollar from it.

If you’re in that group, book a free on-site quote and Resin Masters will price the actual floor.

Frequently asked questions

How much does epoxy flooring cost per m2 in Queensland?

Resin Masters’ published ranges are $50 to $90 per m2 for solid colour, $60 to $110 for flake and $100 to $160 or more for metallic or custom quartz, before extras. The final price depends on the slab condition, the system and the size of the job.

Does the calculator include GST?

Resin Masters’ published prices include GST, and every written quote lists grinding, moisture testing, primer, coats, topcoat and GST separately. Ask for GST to be shown as its own line on any quote so you can compare like with like.

Is there a minimum charge for small jobs?

Small spaces often carry a flat minimum project fee instead of a per-square-metre rate, because setup, travel and preparation stay the same. Resin Masters confirms the figure on your free on-site quote. Combining two small areas in one visit can help.

How do I measure a garage that isn’t rectangular?

Split it into rectangles, multiply length by width for each and add the results. Measure the floor you want coated, not the whole slab. If you’re unsure, send a rough sketch with measurements and we’ll check it.

Can I get a fixed price instead of an estimate?

Yes, after a site visit. The estimate is a range because slab condition changes the price. Resin Masters offers a free, no-obligation on-site quote and provides a fully itemised written quote within 48 hours of the visit.
